Kozhikode, Mar 4 (UNI) 'Frida,' depicting the professional and private life of surrealist Mexican painter Frida Kahlo by Director Julie Taymor, will be the inaugural film in the Women's International Film Festival beginning here on March 6. Altogether 30 films, including 12 foreign, 13 other Indian and 5 Malayalam language films would be featured in the 5-day fete jointly organized by Federation of Film Societies of India - Keralam and Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Film Society Federation- Keralam Vice President Chelavur Venu told reporters here today. The foreign films are from America, Poland, Israel, Iran, Turkey, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Saudi ARabia and Pakistan, he said. Directors Urvashi Irani, Suman Kittur, Bijaya Jena, Sujetha Phule, Vidhu Vincent, Leena Manimeghala, Fauzia Fathima, Sreebala K Menon, Asha Joseph and Shiny Jacob Benjamin would participate in the event, Mr Venu said.
