'Double puncture' govt functioning in Jharkhand says Jaiveer Shergil

Ranchi, Dec 7 (UNI) National Spokesperson of Congress Jaiveer Shergil took swipe at the double engine government slogan of BJP and said that rather a double puncture government was functioning in the state.

Addressing a press conference at the JPCC headquarters here while wearing a garland of onion he said that on one hand the people were given the injection of poverty, unemployment and corruption and other hand people are fed up with high power cost. He said that BJP has cut the power of the people and they would now cut the vote of the BJP and on December 23 the government in this state will change for good.

He said that in the last five years BJP has increase power tariffs in the urban areas by 108 per cent and the rural areas by 360 per cent while power tariff on irrigation and agriculture has been hiked by 614 per cent.

Shergil said that earlier the people use to pay Rs 3 unit for per unit of power which has now increased to 6.25 rupee per unit on the other hand in rural pockets the people use to get power at Rs 1.25 per unit and now they are now being made to pay Rs 5.75 per unit. He claimed that in a report released by the Union Government in Lok Sabha it said that in 1.45 lakh homes power had yet not reached.
