'Defamation case against Ratan Tata, other directors of Tata Sons with non-application of mind': HC

Mumbai, Apr 18 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Thursday observed that the filing of defamation case against former chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata, and other directors of the group was done by industrialist Nusli Wadia "with complete non-application of mind," owing to the fallout of a corporate dispute.
A division bench of Justices Ranjit More and Bharati Dangre was hearing a petition, filed by Mr Tata and other directors, seeking the court's nod to quash and stay the proceedings initiated against them by a magistrate court in the city in the 2016 criminal defamation case filed by Mr Wadia.
Arguing on behalf of Mr Tata, senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi told the court, "The case is only a fallout of a corporate dispute between Ratan Tata and Nusli Wadia, who is a strong supporter of Cyrus Mistry (former group chairman of Tata Sons) and the same was filed with complete non-application of mind."
